Let it bloom {12:12:2012 #6}

Eigentlich ist meine Lieblingsblume ja die Magnolie; aber erstens habe ich vergessen Fotos zu machen, als die blühten, und zweitens haut mich unser Jasmin im Garten dieses Jahr um mit seiner Blütenpracht!

Gestern Abend hat es allerdings ganz schön gestürmt, und der Jasmin hat ziemlich darunter gelitten...
Nichtsdestotrotz sieht er immer noch wunderschön aus und verdient sich somit einen Platz in der Monatsmotto-Galerie!

Geniessen heißt mein Motto für den Dezember! Viele von Euch hatten dieses Motto im Laufe des Jahres schon mal gehabt. Ich hab's mir für den Jahresabschluß aufgehoben!

To enjoy is my motto for the month of December! Many of you already had this motto sometime during this last year. I have saved it for last!

Ich hoffe, dass ich im Dezember tatsächlich auch die Zeit zum Geniessen finden werde: Die Zeit mit Familie und Freunden, die Vorfreude (der Kinder) auf Weihnachten, leckere Kekse und Glühwein, weihnachtliche Basteleien und Vorlesereien und Eure Gesellschaft hier im Blogland!
Im Moment komme ich nicht sonderlich häufig zum Kommentieren, aber trotzdem schaue ich regelmässig mal bei Euch vorbei...

I really hope that I will have the time in December to enjoy the many things I want to: The time with family and friends, the joy (of the children) of Christmas time, yummy cookies and hot spicy wine, Christmas crafts and reading to my kids and your company here in Blogland!

Die Perspektive ändern {Monatsmotto November}

Wenn ich mit der Kamera unterwegs bin, fällt mir immer wieder auf, wie anders die Dinge aussehen, wenn man nur ein klein bisschen die Perspektive ändert!
Auf dem Foto seht Ihr einen Weinberg durch ein kleines Loch in einem Zaun fotografiert.

Ich werde im November mal versuchen, die Dinge von verschiedenen Blickwinkeln aus zu betrachten. Sowohl durch die Kameralinse als auch im "realen" Leben. Wir tendieren dazu manches nur in Schwarz oder Weiß zu sehen und lassen dabei die ganzen Zwischentöne außer Acht...

On the picture you can see a vineyard that I shot through a little whole in a fence.

In November I would like to look at things from different perspectives. Not only through the lense of my camera but also in "real" life. We tend to only see black or white and miss all the shades...

Aufholen / Catching up {Monatsmotto Oktober}

Im September wurde ich mal wieder daran erinnert, dass ich mit meiner Korrespondenz ziemlich hinterherhinke!
Dass ich gerne Briefe schreibe und einige Brieffreundinnen habe, darüber habe ich hier schon mal berichtet.
Leider, leider kommt dieses Hobby in letzter Zeit vieeel zu kurz...

Vor einigen Monaten habe ich einen sehr netten Brief einer Frau bekommen, die mit mir eine Brieffreundschaft eingehen wollte. Ich fand sie gleich sehr sympathisch und wollte sehr gerne mit ihr schreiben. Aber ich kam einfach nicht dazu zu antworten! Immer wieder habe ich es mir vorgenommen und dann wieder verschoben, da ich ja nicht nur schnell ein paar kurze Zeilen schreiben sondern einen schönen, ausführlichen Brief verfassen wollte.
Die nette Dame war sehr geduldig und hat gelegentlich mal freundlich per Email nachgefragt, ob ich noch an sie denke.
In der letzten Woche habe ich mich dann dazu entschlossen und es ihr auch gleich mitgeteilt, dass sie wohl nicht länger auf eine Antwort von mir warten soll.
Ich hänge mit meinen "alten" Brieffreundinnen schon dermassen hinterher, dass ich es vernünftiger finde, gar nicht erst eine neue Brieffreundschaft einzugehen.

So ist mein Motto für Oktober: Aufholen! Endlich alle liegengelassenen Briefe beantworten und wieder mit gutem Gewissen auf meinen Korrespondenz-Ordner blicken können!

A few months ago I got a really nice letter from a woman who wanted to be my new penfriend. She seemed very nice and I really wanted to answer, but.... I just didn't find the (right) time to reply! I didn't want to just drop a few lines; I wanted to write a long nice welcoming letter!
She was very patient and asked occasionally via email if I still want to write.
Last week I told her that it doesn't make sense to wait any longer...
I am sooo behind in my correspondence and I still need to answer to letters from my "old" penpals that it just didn't seem fair to start a new panpalship!

So my motto for the month of October is: Catching up! Finally writing all these letters that I ment to write for months now! I then feeling good about it and looking forward to the wonderful letters of my penpals!

Geduld {Monatsmotto September} / Patience {Monthly motto September}

Irgendwie läuft im Moment alles nicht so ganz, wie ich mir das wünsche. Mir fehlt Zeit und Ruhe. Unser Kleiner ist nun zum zweiten Mal krank, seit er in die Krippe geht - und das sind ja erst 4 Wochen!
Nach dieser unsäglichen Hand-Fuß-Mund-Krankheit hatte er vor zwei Nächten einen Pseudokrupp-Anfall. Das kannten wir bisher gar nicht und hat uns dementsprechend mächtig in Panik versetzt! Nun ist der Zwerg für den Rest der Woche wieder daheim und ich zwangsweise dazu. Im Grunde ja nichts Schlimmes - das Zuhause-Sein meine ich - aber ich hatte mir für die "freien" Vormittage so viel vorgenommen, dass ich jetzt erst mal nach Hinten verschieben muß.
Ich merke, wie ich einfach sehr, sehr ungeduldig bin, und da möchte ich doch mal bewusst dagegen steuern!

At the moment nothing's going the way I want it to. I'm lacking time and quietness. Our Little One's sick again. For the second time now that he's in daycare - and that has been 4 weeks only! After hand-foot-mouth-desease he had a bout of croup two nights ago. We had never experienced croup before and were therefore in a panic. Now our poor boy is home again and me with him. That's nothing bad - being at home I mean - but I had so many things on my mind that I wanted to do during my "free" time in the morning that I now have to postpone for a while. I realize that I'm very impatient lately and I definitely want to do something against this state of mind!

EMSIG {Monatsmotto August} / ACTIVE {Monthly motto August}

... wie ein Bienchen (oder hier wohl eher eine Hummel!)! So lautet das Motto für den August. Der ist zwar schon halb rum (oje, hänge ich hier hinterher!), aber emsig war er bereits durchaus!
In der ersten Augustwoche waren hier noch Ferien, aber ich musste ein paar Tage arbeiten. Immerhin durfte der Große noch mal eine Woche Ferien mit der Verwandtschaft im Schwarzwald machen und musste sich nicht langweilen.
Dann ging diese Woche für ihn die Schule wieder los - diesmal mit Wechsel zum Gymnasium! Neue Schule, neue Mitschüler, neue Stadt, neues Bus- und Bahnfahren. Sehr, sehr aufregend! Für die Mama genauso wie für den Sohnemann, glaube ich...

Und der Kleine fing diese Woche dann auch noch mit der Krippe an! Während ich das hier schreibe, ist er zum zweiten Mal für 1-2 Stunden alleine dort und ich bin völlig nervös und schiele ständig auf's Telefon...

Die neugewonnene Zeit am Vormittag möchte ich in Zukunft auch viel aktiver (emsiger) gestalten. Heute Nachmittag habe ich den ersten Teil meines Nordic-Walking-Grundkurses (übrigens ein Punkt meiner 38-Dinge-Liste). Die Kilos müssen runter! Hilft ja alles nix. Ich habe seit fast 2 Jahren hier diese Stöcke rumstehen und weiß nicht genau, wie man die korrekt benutzt. So kann das ja nicht weitergehen!

Ausserdem hat diesen Monat hier in der Nähe ein neues Yoga-Studio aufgemacht, dass ich unbedingt mal testen will! Die Motivation ist da - fehlt nur noch die Umsetzung.

Am Sortieren bin ich übrigens immer noch! Im Moment sind es Babyklamotten für einen Kindersachenbasar in der nächsten Woche.

Active like a bee (or rather like a bumblebee)! This is my motto for the month of August!
Even though it's almost half over it has already been quite active.
In the first week of August we still had school vacations here. Unfortunately I had to work several days, but at least our Big One was able to spend some time at the Black Forest with some relatives.
This week school started again for him - this time with a new school! He's in 5th grade now and everything's so new and exciting: New school, new classmates, new town, new going by bus and train! I think I'm at least as nervous as he is!

Also the Little One started daycare this week. While writing this he is alone there (for 1-2 hours only in the beginning) and I am looking at the phone all the time, hoping that he is fine...

The reclaimed time in the morning has to be more active for me now! I really, really have to lose those 15 lbs that are still left from my last pregnancy (two years!)! There's no way around this.
Today I will start my nordic-walking-class (by the way this is part of my 38-things-list). I have those nordic-walking-poles for almost 2 years now and still don't know how to use them correctly!

In addition to that a new yoga studio has opened its doors in a town close to us. I am desperate to take yoga classes again. I will definitely try this!

By the way I am still sorting through our stuff! This week it's baby clothes for a children's clothes fleamarket next week!

SORTIEREN {Monatsmotto Juli} / TO SORT {Monthly motto July}

... so lautet mein Motto für den Juli!
Irgendetwas ist man ja immer am sortieren: Wäsche, Rezepte, Lego, Gedanken...

Mit meinem Motto im Juni "Simplify my Life" bin ich - ehrlich gesagt - nicht sonderlich erfolgreich gewesen. So kurz vor den Ferien gab es einfach viel zu viele Termine. Dazu noch arbeiten und der restliche ganz normale Wahnsinn, haben mir nicht so viel Zeit gelassen, wie ich mir das erhofft habe.
Doch nun sind Ferien, der Große ist schon im Urlaub und wir fahren erst Ende des Monats für eine Woche weg. Also mache ich im Juli einfach mit dem Simplify-Motto weiter. Da hierzu eben in erster Linie das Entrümpeln gehört, passt SORTIEREN da doch ganz gut rein.

We are sorting something all the time, aren't we? Laundry, recipes, lego, thoughts...

I haven't been very successful with last month's motto "Simplify my Life". In June being the month before the summer school vacation there were just too many appointments and parties (it was the last year for our Big One in elementary school), together with work and all those daily chores, the days just weren't long enough. So I decided to continue with simplifying. And the major part of simplifying is decluttering for which I have to sort through a lot of stuff!

Simplify my Life {Monatsmotto Juni / Monthly motto June}

Gerade in der letzten hektischen Woche ist mir mal wieder bewusst geworden, wie vollgestopft das Leben unserer Familie ist! Vollgestopft auf dem Terminkalender und vollgestopft mit Dingen.

Ich möchte den Juni gerne nutzen, um dort - wo möglich - etwas herunterzuschrauben: Weniger Termine, weniger Gehetze, mehr Zeit für Gespräche, Lesen, Spielen und einfach zusammensein!

Außerdem ist es mal wieder (oder immer noch??) Zeit zum Ausmisten! Wir haben einfach zuviel Kram.
So wie auf dem Foto muß das Regal ja nicht aussehen, aber je weniger rumsteht, umso weniger muß aufgeräumt und abgestaubt werden, nicht wahr?

Last week while rushing from appointment to appointment I realized how complicated and crammed our lives are! Complicated when I look at our family calendar and crammed with too much stuff.

In June I want to try to simplify at least my life a bit: Less appointments and less hurry, more time for conversations, reading, playing and just being together as a family!

In addition to that it's time again (or still??) for decluttering! We just have too much clutter in our home.
It doesn't have to look like on the photo, but less stuff means less cleaning up and less dusting, right?

Fleischlos glücklich {Monatsmotto Mai} / Happy without Meat {Monthly motto May}

Unglaublich, wie schnell der April schon wieder vorbei war! Und somit ist es auch schon wieder Zeit für ein neues Monatsmotto!

Unbelievable how fast April has come and gone! And now it's time for another monthly motto!

Diesen Monat ist mir das Finden eines Mottos gar nicht schwergefallen. Wie ich hier ja schon berichtet habe, habe ich gerade erst das Buch "Anständig essen" von Karen Duve gelesen - welches mein Denken im Bezug auf das Fleisch auf meinem Teller in völlig neue Bahnen gelenkt hat!
Mein Motto für Mai lautet also: Fleischlos glücklich!


This month I had no trouble at all finding the right motto. As I told you here, I've just read the book "Eating respectably" by Karen Duve which changed my mind about the meat on my plate completely! My motto for the month of May is therefore: Happy without meat!

Eigentlich habe ich immer sehr gerne Fleisch gegessen, wenn ich es auch nicht so oft "brauchte" wie der Rest meiner Familie. Deshalb habe ich mir sozusagen probeweise vorgenommen zwei Monate - nämlich den Mai und den Juni - komplett auf Fleisch und Fisch zu verzichten! Ich möchte einfach mal sehen, ob es mir schwerfällt, beziehungsweise was mir daran schwerfällt. Wie es danach weitergeht, werde ich dann im Laufe der Zeit entscheiden.

I always liked eating meat, even though I never "needed" it as often as the rest of my family does. That's why I want to stop eating meat and fish for two month - May and June! I want to find out if it is difficult for me to do without meat or rather see what's difficult about it. How I will continue after these two months I will decide sometime before the end of June.

Genaugenommen habe ich bereits heute vor einer Woche aufgehört Fleisch zu essen. Bis jetzt war das relativ einfach. Mir kam nur hin und wieder die Gewohnheit in die Quere, wenn ich mich z. Bsp. dabei ertappte, dass ich mir ein Stückchen Wurst, das der Kleine beim Abendessen übrig gelassen hatte, in den Mund stecken wollte! Auch das Kochen ist etwas schwieriger geworden, da meine Männer bei meinem Versuch ja nicht mitmachen und weiterhin Fleisch auf dem Teller haben möchten.
Ich bin gespannt, wie's weitergeht.
Heute bekommen die Herren z.Bsp. "echte" Hamburger und für mich gibt's selbstgemachte Gemüseburger!

Strictly speaking I have already stopped eating meat last Tuesday. So far it's not been difficult at all. Just sometimes old habits got in my way. A few times I caught myself wanting to pop a piece of sausage into my mouth that our Little One left on his plate at dinner! Cooking got a little more time-consuming, too, because the men in our house don't want to join me and still want their meat! I'm really curious how this will go on. Today my men will have "real" hamburgers for lunch while I have homemade vegetable-burgers!

Gestern Abend gab's in der ARD übrigens zum Thema "Immer Fleisch?" eine interessante Sendung mit Tim Mälzer. Wer's verpasst hat, kann sich's hier noch mal ansehen. Lohnt sich!

Durchatmen {Monatsmotto April} / Breathe again {Monthly motto April}

Okay, der erste Monat Arbeiten nach der Elternzeit ist vorbei und somit auch der erste Monat des Kleinen bei der Tagesmutter. Zeit zum Durchatmen! Alles ging natürlich besser, als ich dachte.
Von nun an muß sich alles nur noch etwas besser einspielen, und dann wird das schon werden.


Alright, the first month of working after my maternity leave is over and therefore also our Little Ones first month with his day nanny. Time to breathe again! Everything went a lot better than I thought. From now on it just has to become a routine and will then run smoothly (hopefully).

Am Wochenende waren ja schon richtig sommerliche Temperaturen. Endlich kann man die Fenster und die Balkontür wieder auf lassen und auch in diesem Sinne durchatmen!

Last weekend we had summerlike temperatures here. Finally we can let the windows and doors stand open and also breathe again in this sense!

Lernen {Monatsmotto März} / Learning {monthly motto March}

Mein Monatsmotto für März lautet "LERNEN". Da ich ja diesen Monat nach knapp 2 Jahren Elternzeit wieder mit dem Arbeiten anfange, muß ich bestimmt wieder eine ganze Menge lernen! Ich habe zumindest das Gefühl, dass ich alles Wichtige vergessen habe...

Im Grunde möchte ich aber eigentlich ständig etwas lernen! Im Moment schwirrt mir auch noch die Meditation im Kopf herum. Mein Französisch und Spanisch könnte ich auch mal wieder auffrischen; und mein Art-Rage-Programm muß ich mir auch noch zu Gemüte führen!
Achja, bestimmt gibt's da noch viiieeel mehr...

My motto for the month of February is "LEARNING". I will start working again this month after almost 2 years of parental leave and I think I have to learn a lot in the beginning! I have a feeling that I forgot everything that's important...

Basically I want to learn something all the time! At the moment I really want to learn how to meditate. Also I want to freshen up my French and Spanish skills; and I still haven't figured out how to use my Art-Rage-program!
If I really start to think about it, I would come up with lots and lots of things I want to learn...

Vorbereitungen {Monatsmotto Februar} / Preparations {monthly motto February}

Für mich stehen diesen Monat jede Menge Vorbereitungen im Vordergrund.

Ich möchte mich für das echt schlechte Bild entschuldigen! Habe weder Zeit noch Licht oder Inspiration für ein Bild zum Thema "Vorbereitungen" gehabt! Und in meinem Archiv war auch nichts zu finden, das passte...

Meine Elternzeit ist Ende des Monats beendet, so dass ich ab März wieder mit einer halben Stelle anfangen werde zu arbeiten.
Diese Woche werde ich mich mal um meine Uniform kümmern: Sprich waschen, zur Reinigung bringen und neue Hosen bestellen (argh, blödes Gewicht!). Außerdem gibt's noch jede Menge Papierkram zu erledigen.
Und dann wären da noch die Kinder: Der Große muss lernen, sich auch mal etwas zu essen warm zu machen, und der Kleine muss an die Tagesmutter gewöhnt werden.
Ich muss zugeben, dass ich bereits jetzt nervös bin...

Das wird eine große Umstellung für uns alle.

Die Idee zum Monatsmotto habe ich bei Bine auf 'was eigenes' gesehen. Auf die Art kann man am Ende des Jahres noch mal sehr schön Revue passieren lassen, was einen in den einzelnen Monaten beschäftigt hat!

February's motto is preparations.

I want to apologize for the really bad picture! I had neither time nor light or inspiration for a photo that relates to the motto "preparations"! And I didn't find a picture in my archive that fits either...

My parental leave will be over by the end of the month and I will start working part-time in March again. This week I want to sort out my uniform. Meaning washing blouses, taking some things to the dry-cleaner and ordering new pants (hmpf, darn weight!). Also there's a lot of paperwork to do. This will be a big change for the whole family. Especially for the kids: Our Big One has to learn personal responsibility and how to use the microwave; the Little One has to get used to his day nanny.
I have to admit that I'm already nervous...

I found this idea about posting a motto of the month at Bine's blog 'was eigenes'. It's a great way look back at the months at the end of the year and know immediately what was on my mind then.
